The BAZAR/ NAMDUSA, BRASS AGE and JADE Project

What are the BAZAR/ NAMDUSA and JADE Projects?

The NAMDUSA project started in 2012. The founding members Dean deVries Bock (Cape Town, South Africa), Pastor Thaniseb (Rehoboth, Namibia) and Gerrit Marx (Greifswald, Germany) started to invite brass bands and choires for a first gathering. Praise the Lord by doing music together and learning from each other is the main goal. A series of six brass band workshops had been started, several brass bands have been founded (Cape Town and Bloemfontein).

In 2018 the south african branch of the Project was renamed into BAZAR, the "Brass Assembly in the Zuid Afrika Region" :-)

JADE is the acronym for a JApanese – German (DEutsch) brass project. The majority of the german members is part of a congregational brass band in the Evangelical Johannes Church in Greifswald.
Gerrit Marx started the band in 2003 with three of his students. Since then the group has expanded to 24 members. The main task of the lay-musicians is the performance within the church services. Following the ecumenical idea the group loves to travel and to establish ties with other churches in different countries. The JADE project was started in 2016 when Ryoko Tatsumi joined the band on a research visit to Germany. Gerrit Marx and Ryoko Tatsumi immediately decided to continue this fellowship.
